The Awakening of Nordic Darkwave Culture 0n April 31 - May
2, 2004 Vilnius for the third time welcomes the biggest darkwave/gothic
music event in Baltic States - Kunigunda Lunaria. We invite all
dark souls to our old, beautifully romantic capital of Lithuania
to experience three days and nights with the most interesting dark
music acts from four European Nordic countries.
Since the beginning in 2002, Kunigunda Lunaria (then called Kunigunda
Lunar Fest) had ambitions to become the premier darkwave/gothic
music event in Baltic States. The first two festivals proved that
these ambitions were true - with the great dark music acts, coming
not only from Baltic States, but also from other European countries,
it became not just gothic music event, but also a platform for all
dark arts. Photography, painting, movies, fashion, and many other
kinds of dark art are presented during this festival. The three
days long festival usually takes place in different locations of
Vilnius, the festival also has its bar/club, where the participators
of Kunigunda Lunaria can meet each other listening to darkwave and
watching intriguing horror movies.
This year Kunigunda Lunaria presents a set of the most interesting
darkwave/gothic/industrial/ebm artists coming from Lithuania, Latvia,
Estonia and Finland, as well as the cult dj from United Kingdom
- DJ De'Ath! The first day of the festival will present more electronic/
industrial/ ebm side - it's right time to hit the dancefloor and
to keep it hard! The second day will return us to more traditional
sounds of the scene - gothic/ darkwave styles will prevail here,
and such acts as Deadbabes (Fin), Forgotten Sunrise (Est) or famous
Lithuanian act Lemon Joy will present their exclusive programmes.
Not to forget a good kick by gothic dj's from Baltic lands. The
third day is opened for other kinds of dark arts - films, exhibitions,
delicious music, and also the opportunity to watch videos shot on
the festival.
Besides innovative dark music, the mystic, creative atmosphere is
always present at Kunigunda Lunaria, and gothic architecture of
old Vilnius helps your fantasy to wander in ancient times. Without
doubt, these three days will be the best way to dive deep into dark
(sub)culture of Balts. It's provocative, and it's strong. So, be
here!
