This year, the major festival of non-traditional music in Vilnius will be honoured by IVTKYGYG, the veterans of avant-garde scene, who are going to throw a genuine industrial performance by torturing sewing machines!
The legendary band of the Lithuanian avant-garde, which is also known outside the country, was formed in 1987. Apart from a range of music projects, the band made its name by playing washing machines. Last year, they decided sewing machines could emit some sound in their performances, too. The beginning of 2005 was marked by the loss of IVTKYGYG vocalist Baras, who has been long called the father of Lithuanian avant-garde. Yet the band has survived and continues crafting music after this tragic death. After all, musical side of IVTKYGYG was always mainly in the hands of Artūras Šlipavičius, Gediminas Simniškis and Vaclovas Nevčesauskas.
A new member has joined the band, thus, IVTKYGYG will hold its first performance in new cast during Kunigunda festival. Unique orchestra of sewing machines will open the gates to Kunigunda Lunaria 2005 and greet the audience. A new album of the band, CD "Vacys taip liepė" (Vacys Told Us To), should be out before the festival.
